Announcements
Announcements let you publish a short banner message on a site — a sale, a weather closure, an outage notice, or any timely note your visitors should see. You manage them in the portal under Content → Announcements for the site.
On sites that display the announcements banner, a published announcement appears across the site's pages while it is active, and it comes down again as soon as you remove it or its scheduled window ends.
Who can manage announcements
Managing announcements is limited to a site's owners, admins, and editors (and platform administrators). Teammates without edit access on the site cannot create or change them.
Writing an announcement
Each announcement is intentionally short and simple:
- Message — up to 280 characters.
- Severity — choose Info (blue) for general notices or Warning (amber) for something more urgent.
- Active window (optional) — set a start and end time to schedule the banner. Leave it open-ended to show the banner until you take it down.
How it reaches visitors
Your site fetches its active announcements when a visitor loads a page. That request is served with no-store caching, so the banner is never pinned in a cache — an announcement you remove disappears promptly rather than lingering behind stale caching.
